Tap Out at Time Out

Numerous wing places have called 13005 Worldgate Dr. in Herndon home, but something new is brewing this time around. Time Out Sports Bar is bringing the first self-serve beer bar to the East Coast. Those visiting find a completely remodeled, state-of-the-art, enjoyable atmosphere. Enthralled drinkers are given a carabineer with magnetic key and two beer credits loaded. When you are thirsty for more, re-up your key with a manager and drive your taste buds into Brew Heaven. You pay only for the ounces you drink. No more waiting for a busy waitress or letting someone else decide how much head you like; the beer choices are now in your hands!

Owner Karun Chilaka moved on from his IT background and is eager to introduce the locals to this innovative trend. He is bringing in some delightful and bold craft beers while showing local breweries some love, too. Fellow connoisseurs can find their native beer favorites from the likes of Ashburn’s Lost Rhino  and Charlottesville’s Starr Hill. Additional selections include such craft beers as G’Knight Imperial Red and Ellie’s Brown Ale. Beer gurus can expect new varieties monthly based on popularity and interest. There are twelve beers on tap at the full bar as well if you are too timid to pour your own or don’t think you can control yourself. If beer is not your beverage of choice, Time Out also hosts five divine wines, specialty martinis, and more to wet your whistle.

The friendly staff and managers are willing to help newbies learn how to pour their own successful pint. The seven-days-a-week manager, Candice, loves the concept of patrons being able to try new beers, sampling the wall to find something they enjoy without being committed to an entire beer. After finding their favorite, patrons have the control to fill their cups.

Along with this new self-serve wall concept, Time Out specializes in meaty traditional and boneless wings, a variety of sliders, and even offers TexMex specialties. They have a game room and mega-claw machine for impromptu competition between friends or co-workers. The bargains continue with low prices on domestic beers and $5 appetizers during happy hour, Monday-Friday, 4 to 9 p.m.

This uninterrupted excitement endures all week with Burger Monday, $.50 Traditional Wing Tuesday, $.50 Boneless Wednesday, Ladies Thursday, Slider Friday, and 10% off “Industry Night” Saturday. On Sundays, wear your local/minor/major league jersey for a free appetizer. Specials so good you’ll want to be bad all week so you can go to Time Out. Stop by, get acquainted, and meet your new best friend, the beer wall.
