You can't get much more American than the National Independence Day Celebration at the Washington Monument and National Mall area. Whether you're new to the area or have been here for years, watching fireworks over the reflecting pool while surrounded by the monuments is an experience that you probably want to experience every year you're in town. Thousands throw out picnic blankets on the National Mall on the fourth and await the spectacular fireworks show to celebrate our nation's independence.
