For the 20th year, the American Heart Association presented the Lawyers Have Heart 10K Race/Fun Walk in Georgetown. The fundraiser brought in nearly 5,000 racers, Miss DC (also a lawyer), and countless supporters of the American Heart Association.

Celebrate Fairfax held their annual festival from June 11 through June 13, complete with the usual incredible music, food, entertainment and crowd. Each day the festival featured bands from Rusted Root to KC and the Sunshine Band to Carolina Liar to Jimmy Wayne to Josh Thompson and even local band Starryville. The non-profit organization is known for throwing an amazing festival, with a wide array of crafters, exhibits, vendors and performers. We can't wait until next year!

The 30th Annual Herndon Festival was held Thursday, June 3 through Sunday, June 6 and featured three stages of live entertainment from locals No Second Troy, Middle Distance Runner and ilyAIMY, to name a few. The festival also showcased a doggie expo, 10K/5K race and fitness expo, fireworks, a carnival and craft area. Between the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol a "Ball on the Mall" was held. This special event is the Trust for the National Mall's black-tie event hosted by the L'Enfant Society to raise funds to help restore and improve the National Mall.
Within the huge tent structure over 600 guests enjoyed an elegant, sociable and fun evening surrounded by music, food, drinks and a beautiful and vibrant atmosphere.

Fado kicked off this year's St. Patrick’s Day celebrations a few days in advance in one of the best ways possible: A celebration to benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Supporters shaved their heads for St. Baldrick’s (www.stbaldricks.org), with funds going to help find ways to conquer childhood cancer. The day included live performances from Phil Kominski and DJ Roller.

There was plenty of green to be seen as tens of thousands showed up to drink Guinness, play pub games and of course, take in the over 40 acts on ten stages. Rain couldn’t dampen the fun at the inaugural running of the Four Court’s Four Miler. Fifteen hundred runners and their friends showed up for the four mile race on Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, co-produced by Ireland’s Four Courts restaurant and Pacers running store. An official race leprechaun, tented party, live music and the chance to win a trip to Ireland were all part of the fun.

The 6th Annual Brewer’s Ball was held at the beautiful U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Guests were able to sample a variety of handcrafted ales and lagers from 16 top microbreweries and brewpubs in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, including a wine station. They also sampled some delicious food from some of the area’s eateries and restaurants. Proceeds from the event benefitted the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which seeks the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease.

The 5th Annual Chance for Life Charity Event was held at the historic and beautiful City Tavern Club in Georgetown. Hundreds of guests came together for a full day of poker, wine and posing for photos with the Washington Wizards dance team. The generous support of the attendees raised money to help find a cure for pediatric spinal cord cancer. The inspiration for the event, Kennedy Snyder, is now 9 and has spent the last year doing what she loves—enjoying life. But she is still in the need of a miracle and this event brought that reality just a bit closer.

The 12th annual St. Jude Gourmet Gala: Mardi Gras for the Kids, was held Tuesday night at the National Building Museum. This fundraiser, which featured a silent auction, live auction and raffle, raised funds to support the care of children suffering from catastrophic and life-threatening diseases. Some of the D.C. area's finest restaurants provided the cuisine. A DMV Helps Haiti Benefit Concert was held at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. Several DC area artists contributed: Blackcobain, K-Beta, Kingpen Slim, XO, Phil Ade feat. Raheem DeVaughn, Don Juan feat. Que & Deangelo Redman, Tabi Bonney feat. Beat Your Feet Kings, Hip Hop Caucus, and Wale headlined. The benefit concert was hosted by Chris Cole of BET’s College Hill South Beach. The United Skeeball Association (www.unitedskeeball.com) took over H Street Country Club on Tuesday, January 12 for their very own skeeball league, DC's newest social outlet.
